Description/Job Summary



1. Ability to do proper quality bag checks and know how to alert someone to assist in making adjustments if necessary.Bag checks must be performed every hour (weight and size tolerance)
  • Sign off on each bag check performed
  • Ability to read production sheets and make adjustments as necessary on assigned lines.
Production sheets indicate the following information:
  • box size
  • color of bags
  • length/width of bags
  • seal type
  • count
  • labels - how to read labels and their correct placements on finished cases.
  • weight of case, purpose for weighing cases
    • indicates proper gauge - correct bag count - correct case weight
  • blend of material
  1. Ability to make boxes if required, finish in a timely manner and keep production line properly supplied.
  2. Ability to keep color meters filled with proper material and empties color meter properly when changing colors.
  3. Uses quality stamp properly and consistently
  4. Stacks finished goods properly on pallets, places proper protective wrapping for storage and completes pallet tag before sending to finished good staging area.
  5. Properly ties off finished pallet of roll stock
  6. Recording finished goods produced on each pallet using pallet count sheets
  7. Ability to read production schedule. Provides information on what will be produced next on the extruder line.
  8. Running special orders (Grainger/Envision)
  • Knows and understands tolerances for Grainger/Envision
  • Uses proper paper work for recording Grainger/Envision
  1. Knowledge of Alpine winder controls
  2. Able to efficiently change rolls and prepare the winder for the next roll
  3. Uses correct core size for roll stock being produced
  4. Thread rope or plastic through tower
  5. Knowledge of operation of safety ropes, light curtains and doors on nips, bag machines and separators
  6. Put air in webs, when to put air in webs
  7. Know how, when and why to cut air out of webs
  8. Set gussets and line up folders
  9. Assist in putting up a production extruder line
  • form bubble and tie on rope at the die
  • pull rope through the tower
  • pull plastic to thread bag machine/separator
  • make bag size changes
  1. Basics of threading bag machines and separators
  2. Basics of ON/OFF switches on bag machine and separator
  3. Weigh and record all scrap properly for assigned lines
  4. Maintains assigned work area and keeps it clean and orderly.
  5. Follows company safety guidelines, policies and procedures. Examples to include:
  • Proper lifting techniques
  • Uses the correct tools for the job i.e. safety knife/protective gloves
  • Shutting down machinery when necessary
  1. Wears all required personal protective equipment; safety shoes, glasses and hearing protection.
  2. Maintains good attendance to work
  3. Attends monthly plant huddle meetings
  4. Assists co-workers when needed





Preferred Skills

Knowledge:

  • Mechanical - Knowledge of machines and tools, including their uses.
  • Safety and Security - Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote safe operations.
  • Production and Processing - Knowledge of materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacturing of goods.
  • Mathematics - Knowledge of arithmetic. ( multiplication, division, addition, subtraction and measurements)
  • English Language Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
Preferred Education

Experience and Education:

  • Education - Prefer High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate)
  • Experience - Prefer previous work experience with machines in a manufacturing setting.
