Responsibilities

Perform repairs in a FAA approved Repair Station, working to structural repair manuals,
component maintenance manuals and aircraft maintenance manuals, as well as other approved
repair instructions from the manufacturer or customer. Team with others to perform
maintenance, repair and overhauls to a wide variety of structural and non-structural fiberglass,
acrylic and other composite and metal parts, and nacelle assemblies. Work from approved
repair manuals and documents, process specifications, quality control requirements, drawings
and established processes and procedures, to assure the timely delivery of quality products to
the customer. Perform multi-tasking and multi-machine operation where applicable.

Duties:

  • The company will provide appropriate assistance in job training to enable employees to perform
    all necessary repair job functions including the following:
  • Utilize lay-up tools, which include both optical and hard tools, in the repair and rework of
    composite assemblies.
  • Obtain required information from maintenance manuals, prints, charts, sketches, work
    orders, documents, verbal and electronic information.
  • Use shop mathematics and precision measuring instruments to complete work assignments.
    Familiarity with metric system required.
  • Must verify work performed is per work instruction and meets process and/or engineering
  • Ensure equipment and tool certification occurs per procedure.
  • Use and control of solvents and cleaning solutions in the preparation of details, tools, and
    assemblies for bonding and finishing per established procedures. May be required to
    perform touch-up and finishing applications.
  • Perform routine minor machine maintenance as part of their daily work duties (e.g.,
    replacing machine filters, changing standard light bulbs on machines and equipment,
    maintaining lubrication/coolant levels, etc. as related to basic Total Preventative
    Maintenance duties).
  • Routinely move product within the Repair Station work area using shop assigned equipment
    as required.
  • Support the continuous flow of product within the maintenance, repair, and overhaul process
    by training and assisting employees at all classification levels.
  • Airframe license preferred or willingness to pursue FAA Part 65 certification, (Repairman's
    certificate or Airframe license).
  • Experience working with maintenance and repair documents such as: aircraft maintenance
    manuals (AMM's), structural repair manuals (SRM's), and component maintenance manuals
    (CMM's), service bulletins, service letters, and Airworthiness Directives.
  • Willingness to travel, domestically and internationally, on short notice, for long periods of
    time, to support customer maintenance requirements or Spirit business needs.
  • Must comply with Anti-Drug and Alcohol program requirements (FAA required random
    testing for safety sensitive work).
    Employee must successfully pass initial screening to begin work in the repair station.
  • Pre-authorize background checks upon Company requests.

Level B

Employee can perform the functions of the Repair Station Level B Mechanic, such as:

  • Place vacuum and pressure bags over and inside wrapped parts and tools, and test for leaks.
  • Load, unload and operate ovens and autoclaves in the curing of parts and assemblies.
  • Operate portable repair/bonding equipment to accomplish rework, repair or change incorporation on completed assemblies.
  • Experience in taper sanding composite structures.
  • Proficient in core repair and composite ply layup.
  • Maintenance / Repair / Overhaul of Struts and Nacelles - Repair strut and nacelle parts, assemblies, and components as part of larger assembly repairs.
  • Complete all repairs of thrust reverser thermal blankets.
  • Maintain required personal certifications, attain FAA Repairman Certificate or Airframe Mechanic license.
  • Operate testing equipment, machines, and devices in accordance with established procedures.
  • Drill, saw, file, sand, pot, patch, build up, trim, fit and rivet parts to meet repair manual /repair instruction requirements.

Qualifications

Required:

  • This is a DOT safety sensitive position and requires participation in a DOT drug screen and random screenings
  • Must have 5 years sheet metal assembly structures expereince
  • All applicants must be willing and able to work any shift, including alternative work weeks

Preferred:

  • 777 and 737, thrust reverser, inlet, fan cowl experience preferred
  • Repair Station Mechanic experience
