YOUR OPPORTUNITY

We have an exciting Trucking Operations Manager opportunity in our Merriam, KS office. The Trucking Operations Manager provides day-to-day hands-on strategic direction for Seaboard Transportation with oversight and implementation for the company's transportation functions. Negotiates contracts and/or agreements with third party partners. Maximizes efficiencies and ensures cost, quality and delivery are met while managing the team and carrier performance.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee the transportation needs with multi-plant operations for shipments to domestic and international customers.
  • Negotiate agreements and contracts with third party transportation suppliers to ensure best service, price, terms and conditions.
  • Manage current fleet operations of 60+ owner/operators.
  • Develop, identify, measure, and evaluate KPI's and track trends for the business. Track and analyze the fleet's financial performance against budget prior year performance and best in class benchmarking.
  • Manage and evaluate all vendor relationships to maximize opportunities and improve business and service performance.
  • Manage a team that finds new customers and grows revenues and margins for the Brokerage.
  • Continuous development by vetting new carriers to expand the capacity to service a growing customer base and increase margins.
  • Maintain carrier files to include signed contracts, safety scores, current insurance certifications, operating authority, and rate schedules.

QUALIFICATIONS

Requirements

  • 10+ years' management experience in the transportation industry required.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of shipping, transport, vehicle maintenance, strong negotiating skills, collaboration with overlapping departments, and accustomed to interacting with executives at the highest level.

Preferred

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Logistics, Transportation or related field required.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to understand business and financial implications.
  • Proven track record in managing a transportation department within a large organization and experience in a high volume (75,000+ loads) and high dollar ($200M+) environment.
  • Comprehensive understanding of logistics cost models, and typical routings, time, and cost for bi-directional movement of products and goods both domestically and abroad.

SCHEDULE:

  • Monday-Friday 8:00AM-5:00PM, schedule may adjust based off business needs, also an expectation of on call nights & weekends
