Job Summary

The Relief Machine Operator requires extensive expertise for all bottle line and/or can line equipment used in the production process. Responsible for training Machine Operators in the safe and correct use of manual and automated equipment.

Job Responsibilities
  • Deliver job and machine specific training following OSHA safety, FDA, GMPs and local site standards.
  • Operate high-speed filling and packaging equipment in a safe and efficient manner; understand and perform the minor servicing and lockout tagout procedures when necessary.
  • Relieve operators for lunches, breaks and meetings as needed.
  • Collaborate with management to explore possible improvements for training procedures.
  • Schedule, deliver, and track all machine-specific training.
  • Coordinate Train the Trainer programs utilizing Subject Matter Experts. Review current qualification/skill sets, review with Subject Matter Experts, make recommended changes.
  • Standardize training templates, forms, processes.
  • Maintain and update machine-specific materials consisting of correct machine settings and general maintenance.
  • Review all CIL standards, Centerline standards and compliance standards and work with Production Supervisor to develop action plans to immediately address gaps.
  • Review and revise present SOPs (Safety, Operation, Quality, Sanitation) as needed.
  • Troubleshoot equipment faults; comprehend and communicate correct root cause of malfunctions to the appropriate parties.
  • Analyze the issues or malfunctions that occur with the machine and communicate to the necessary parties utilizing productions two-way radio system and/or speaking in person.
  • Input product and line performance data into both the Line Information System (LIS) and Infinity Quality System (IQS).
  • Conducts visual quality inspections of product and enters quality information into the Infinity QS database system; communicates any out-of-specification findings and takes appropriate action.
  • Safely operates forklift to secure replenishment of raw materials for production and execute proper placement of finished product in the warehouse.
  • Maintain organization and cleanliness of equipment in assigned area.
Physical Requirements
  • Speaking: Often (communicate with other operators and leads)
  • Acute Vision: Constantly (observing both near and far, reading documents, monitors)
  • Mobility: Frequent travel around the equipment they operate.
  • Bending/Squatting: Occasional bending and squatting to clean and operate machinery.
  • Dexterity: Frequent use of hands to operate machinery.
  • Lifting: Lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Climbing: Occasional use of ladders or stairs.
Job Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Minimum of one year of work experience required.
  • Prior experience in machine operation in a production or manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Ability to operate all pre-palletizing machine centers on a production line.
  • Previous experience working in high-speed industrial environment preferred.
  • Working knowledge of industrial technology, a must.
  • Basic math skills, mechanical aptitude, and reading comprehension strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of LEAN methodologies and TPM (Total Preventative Manufacturing) processes, including 5S, Root-Cause Analysis, and continuous improvement practices preferred.
  • Expert knowledge of all bottle line and/or can line production machinery.
  • Prior experience using pallet jack or forklift preferred. Ability to obtain certification upon hire is required.
