Job Description

What we are looking for

SCS Engineers is looking for a Staff Engineer in the Wichita, KS office to perform various activities related to environmental consulting. You will be a quick learner, motivated, eager to learn, embrace teamwork, and have the desire to develop professionally. Project responsibility will have a primary focus on civil/environmental services, landfills and landfill infrastructure, composting, and other projects that may require design, engineering, permitting, construction and operations support.

How you can make an impact

  • Prepares and reviews engineering calculations, drawings, reports, and permit applications.
  • Manage projects and personnel to meet both client and SCS expectations
  • Makes decisions independently based on engineering or scientific problems and methods, plans and coordinates work, and represent SCS at meetings and conferences.
  • Field work in varied terrain and weather will be required, including but not limited to, surveys/data gathering, construction quality assurance, inspections, etc.
  • Office-based tasks including: CAD drafting, mathematical calculations, report writing, creating site plans and facility diagrams, permit applications, etc.
  • Receive technical guidance on unusual or complex problems and supervisory approval on proposed plans or projects.
  • Travel (day trips or overnight, 20% of travel expected): Varies, most of the initial effort will be in the Wichita area on a daily basis. Occasional overnight travel will be expected to other areas of Kansas and Oklahoma, typically.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering or Geotechnical Engineering or related engineering major required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience required.
  • Professional Engineering license or progress toward a professional engineering license (i.e. E.I.T certification) preferred
  • Competent with using MS Office and other computer software normally used in environmental consulting. Experience with using AutoCAD Civil 3D design software is ideal.
  • Valid driver's license with a driving record in good standing required.

Pay range for this position is $68k to $88k depending on experience. This does not include bonuses or our Employee Stock Ownership Plan.
