Johnson Controls' Wichita operation designs, builds, and distributes around one million pieces of residential heating and cooling equipment every year. Johnson Controls Wichita builds and assembles some of the biggest HVAC brands in the industry, including York, Luxaire, Coleman, Champion, and Guardian.

What you will do

As the Quality Manager at our Wichita, Kansas plant, you will be critical to the continued development of a quality transformation in current products and new product development.

How you will do it

  • Leading the site efforts in the transformation of the quality culture and improvement of our processes and products/
  • Leading efforts to drive operational excellence by setting targets, developing action plans, and driving cross-functional teams toward improvements of key performance indicators.
  • Development of a Quality Management System and process standardization to drive the reduction of variation of processes.
  • Plan and oversee the analysis, inspection, design, test, and/or integration to assure the quality of assigned products or components.
  • Leading cross-functional teams toward the reduction of warranty claims
  • Maintain a working knowledge of government and industry quality codes and standards.
  • Train and develop team members towards a zero-defect quality culture.
  • Lead efforts in the advance quality planning (AQP) for new product/process development
  • Address through effective root cause and problem-solving areas of customer concerns and process and product improvement needs.
  • Manage supplier communication and support supplier improvement needs.

What we look for

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Manufacturing Engineering) or a technical discipline.
  • Minimum eight (8) years of Quality Management experience in a manufacturing/production environment.
  • Extensive knowledge of Quality Management Systems processes and procedures.
  • Prior experience with New Product Introduction (NPI) and Advanced Product Quality Planning (AQPQ) techniques such as Control Plan, FMEA, and Design for Manufacturability (DFAM).
  • Strong background of root cause and problem solving
  • Demonstrated track record of driving a culture of quality transformation
  • Demonstrated strengths of resiliency, process-driven, and process-oriented as well as successfully implementing Quality standards and best practices.

Preferred:

  • Six Sigma Black Belt (CSSBB)
  • Certified Manager of Quality (CMQ/OE)
  • Certified Quality Engineer (CQE)
