Compensation: $675 /credit hour
Worksite Location: WSU West Campus
Schedule: MWF at 8:30am – 9:20am & 1:30pm – 2:20pm

Overview / Job Summary:
The Adjunct Faculty Instructor provides subject matter expertise. We are looking for an Art Appreciation Adjunct for our Shocker Academy in partnership with Maize High School. Additional responsibility to teach courses, adhering to lesson plans, meeting course objectives, beginning and ending courses on time as scheduled and adhering to academic faculty ethical and professional behaviors.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will vary, but are not limited to:
 
  • Files an appropriate course syllabus for each course taught within the course shell of the appropriate Learning Management System.
  • Ensures that each program/class contains essential curricular components, has appropriate content and pedagogy, and maintains currency.
  • Maintains a high level of expertise in the subjects taught and stimulates enthusiasm for those subjects.
  • Evaluates students to measure their progress toward the achievement of course outcomes/competencies.
  • Develops, revises, and/or recommends curriculum change which meet the objectives of the course/program and improve student learning.
Art Appreciation is a general introduction to Art and a general educational elective. Subject matter includes a brief introduction to the nature and function of the visual arts, the visual elements and principles of design, an introduction to various art media, and an exploration of various art periods from ancient Mesopotamia to the contemporary art of Bob Ross and Jeff Koons.

Education:
  • Master's Degree from a regionally accredited college or university in the teaching discipline, OR Master's Degree plus 18 graduate or undergraduate credit hours in the teaching discipline.
Preferred Experience & Skills:
  • Teaching experience desired, experience in adult education; preferred.
  • Must be available for required course assignments.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills – must be able to work with students technical and administrative personnel in a pleasant, professional, and efficient manner.
Additional Requirements:
  • Detailed oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Attention to detail and effective prioritization.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to use personal computer and software application
