As a Mechanical Development Engineer, bringing a background of new product development, you'll be at the forefront of groundbreaking advancements alongside a dynamic team of engineers and technicians. From ideation to implementation, you'll orchestrate the entire product development lifecycle, ensuring seamless transitions from conceptual design to rigorous validation testing and eventual deployment. Your contributions will be instrumental in bringing innovative mechanical and hydraulic solutions to life, cementing our position as industry leaders.

Responsibilities

  • Own mechanical/hydraulic design responsibility on systems or portions of projects that relate to new innovations, safety, quality, cost reductions, and manufacturability.
  • Ensure mechanical/hydraulic design/layout is compliant with required regulatory standards, and appropriate third party and internal requirements.
  • Design and develop samples, prototypes, and evaluate models for performance, in addition to Generating ideas for future product development and product cost reduction activities.
  • Specify and execute test plans. Analyze and prepare reports documenting experimental method, measurements, and results.
  • Develop curves of mechanical/hydraulic data and other necessary technical data or documentation.
  • Estimate and manage product/component cost standards throughout the development process.
  • Select components and suppliers in cooperation with the supply chain team.
  • Participate in pre-production runs of the mechanical/hydraulic products in close cooperation with project managers, product maintenance engineering and the production company.

Basic Qualifications
  • BS degree in mechanical engineering or technology or equivalent demonstrated experience in a technical field of study required.
  • 3-10 years of mechanical design with development experience in pumps, motors, controls and/or equivalent industry is required.
  • Experience in mechanical and hydraulic design principles, coupled with design testing and analysis experience.
  • Experience with positive displacement, split case, end suction, ANSI, and other applicable pump designs (preferred)
  • Experience in design testing and analysis and ability to take responsibility for technical decisions on the product.
  • Ability to develop complex engineering drawings, coupled with knowledge of innovative design principles.
  • Experience using computers, office software, simulation software, and lab equipment for analysis of designs.
  • Strong business acumen with application and market experience in addition to holding abilities to train internal or external customers on technical matters.
  • Experience with lean manufacturing principles, systems, and processes.

Travel & Work Arrangements/Requirements
  • Applicant must reside locally, as this role requires onsite presence at our Lenexa, KS Design Center
  • Ability for up to 10% annual travel internationally and domestically
  • Must maintain a valid passport to support travel
  • At minimum, must be a lawful permanent resident

Key Competencies
  • Mechanical design with development experience in pumps, motors, controls and/or equivalent industry
  • Mechanical design of new product that is manufactured on an assembly line
  • Development of complex engineering drawings with experience in design testing and analysis
