Maintenance Technician III

Location: Lenexa, KS

Job Summary and Purpose:

Support production by performing general building and mechanical maintenance such as plumbing, electrical, mechanical, changing motors or compressors out and replacing HVAC filters. Diagnose and repair complex production equipment, electrical, mechanical, pneumatics, hydraulics, and pressure vessels.

Responsibilities and Key Duties:

Maintenance of production equipment

* Preventive maintenance by visual inspection [belts, gears, wiring, controls]

* Receive emergency calls and respond quickly to resolve problem

* Follow all safety procedures and guidelines

* Perform highly diversified duties to install and maintain production machines and facility equipment

* Electrical and hydraulic maintenance skills to trouble shoot and/or perform work in the following mechanical/maintenance areas on complex laboratory equipment and machines, including but not limited to coolers, freezer, freeze dryers, bio-safety cabinet and other items associated with a manufacturing lab facility

* Ability to troubleshoot and repair HVAC systems, high pressure steam boilers and burner controls, refrigeration equipment including chillers and pump controls

* Ability to perform brazing on refrigeration lines and components

* Provide written reports documenting equipment conditions and proposed corrective actions

* Perform daily rounds and inspections of mechanical rooms and production areas

* Complete work orders and scheduled maintenance

* Communicate any issues or need for assistance to Maintenance Supervisor and/or Manager

* Interact regularly with Security Contractor to respond to alarms

* Maintain facility equipment and provide technical support

* Replace and program temperature control devices for coolers and incubators

* Understand and repair motor control circuits

* Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems

* Test and diagnose electrical components

General maintenance duties

* Use a variety of hand and power tools and material handling equipment

* Maintain clean and orderly work areas

Diagnostics of Equipment

* Analyze and diagnose electronic and mechanical equipment; replace parts/make adjustments

* Provide emergency/unscheduled repair of production equipment during production and perform scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service

* Read and interpret equipment manuals, wiring diagrams and work orders to perform required maintenance and service

Technical / Functional Competencies:

* Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite

* Proficiency in basic computer skills

* Knowledge of PLC systems and ability to read ladder logic

* Ability to work overtime as needed

* Must participate in the weekend and on call rotation schedule

* Must be able to work with minimal supervision or direction

Qualifications:

Education - High School Diploma, or Trade school certification in HVAC or equivalent training

Work Experience - 5 or more years of experience servicing and maintaining chillers, boilers, rooftop packaged units and split systems and industrial HVAC equipment.

Physical Requirements:

* Ability to read, write legibly and communicate in English

* Visual inspection

Working Conditions:

* Ability to qualify to work in a clean room environment when needed

* Outdoor work maybe required with exposure to all potential weather conditions
